Theology, from the Greek θεολογία (theologuia), is the critical study of the nature of gods, divine beings, or of God, their attributes and their relationship with men and different religions. Strictly speaking, it is limited to Christianity, but in a broad sense, it applies to any religion. It is taught as an academic discipline, typically in universities, seminaries and schools of theology. The incorporation of the term "theology" by Christianity took place in the Middle Ages, between the 4th and 5th centuries, with the meaning of Christian knowledge and knowledge about God.
